Paula took to Instagram to break the news and fans are buzzing with excitement.

Here’s what Paula had to say in her Instagram post: “I am so thrilled to finally share that my new Las Vegas residency, Forever Your Girl, will start at the Flamingo Las Vegas this August!” she announced on May 1. “I can’t wait to share my music with all of you right at the heart of the Vegas Strip.” Now, that’s some big news! The residency is set to launch on August 13, featuring 20 dates in the first leg, which wraps up on January 4, 2020. Sounds like a summer to remember, right?

Connecting Through Music and Dance

As Paula gears up to hit the stage in Las Vegas, she’s already thinking about how she can connect with her audience through her music and dance. “I absolutely love telling stories through music and dance, and I can’t wait to engage with the audience,” Paula told Billboard. “I’m bringing the essence of the classic choreography that has become part of my legacy, and I want the audience to leave feeling like they know me a little better.” It’s clear that Paula’s not just here to perform—she’s here to create a real connection with her fans.

A Year Full of Milestones

This residency announcement couldn’t have come at a better time for Paula. Not only is it the 30th anniversary of her hit song “Straight Up,” but she’ll also be celebrating the 31st anniversary of her album Forever Your Girl. It’s a time in her life that Paula wishes had gone by slower. “Virgin Records really understood the importance of my career as a choreographer and how it supported my music. During that time, everything was happening so fast,” she said ahead of her performance at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, shortly after the passing of her father on April 17.

A Career That Moved at Lightning Speed

Paula reminisces about her whirlwind career in the late '80s and early '90s. “‘Straight Up’ hit No. 1, I was choreographing the Academy Awards, and the record label wanted me back in the studio and touring. It was like a bullet train, and all I remember is running to keep up,” she explained. “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and gain fans from all over the world who still support me today.”

Paula, who was the first woman to achieve four No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 singles from a debut album, told Billboard that she’s open to whatever the future holds with her upcoming residency. “I’m excited to see how everything unfolds. I’m thrilled at the opportunity and can’t wait to be housed in one place where people can come and see me,” she said. “I feel like now is the perfect time to do an intimate, fun, and exciting show. I’ve always dreamed of performing on the Las Vegas Strip, and it feels like coming home. I always knew it would happen one day, and I’m thrilled we made it happen this time.”
