What Shows Are Bowing Out Before the New Season?
As we approach the end of the year, CBS has made some tough decisions about its lineup, and a few of our beloved series are getting the axe. One of the biggest names on the chopping block is Blue Bloods, which aired its final episode in December 2024. Fans were left scratching their heads when the network announced the cancellation, especially since the show was still a ratings juggernaut. Tom Selleck, who played the iconic role of Commissioner Frank Reagan, wasn’t shy about sharing his thoughts on CBS’s decision.
In a candid interview with Entertainment Weekly, Tom opened up about the show’s conclusion. “My main goal is to make sure people realize we went out on top, in spectacular fashion. It wasn’t tired, it wasn’t anything else,” he said. “I still don’t fully understand why CBS decided to end it, but we gave it our all and that’s what matters.”

But Blue Bloods isn’t the only series CBS has decided to send off. The network is also saying goodbye to two FBI spin-offs, FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. Both shows had loyal fan bases and impressive runs—FBI: Most Wanted lasted for six seasons, while FBI: International wrapped up after four. The cancellations came as a shock to many, including the casts and creators of the shows.
Keisha Castle-Hughes, who starred on FBI: Most Wanted, took a moment to reflect on the series’ legacy. “I want to thank Wolf Films and CBS, David Hudgins, and Ken Girotti for supporting such an incredible run,” she shared. “I’ll always treasure the memories and friendships I’ve made during my time on the show. It’s bittersweet, but we’re determined to close out the season with hard work and love. This is for the fans!”
Eva-Jane Willis, who starred in FBI: International, also chimed in on the show’s cancellation. “Of course, I’m sad to see the show come to an end, but I want to thank Wolf Entertainment and CBS for everything,” she said. “The incredible tour of Europe we got to go on was unforgettable! We’ve made memories that will last a lifetime.”
S.W.A.T. Gets Canceled (Again)—But Could It Find a New Home?
In a surprising twist, S.W.A.T. star Shemar Moore confirmed in March 2025 that the series is officially off the air after its eighth season. This marks the third time the show has been canceled, but unlike previous occasions, there’s no word on it being resurrected by CBS.
“Uncanceled, canceled, uncanceled twice, two years in a row. How many shows can say that? Not many, I’ll tell you that,” Shemar said in a heartfelt video message. “We’re so proud of what we’ve accomplished, and now it’s time to see where the journey takes us next.”
Shemar isn’t ready to say goodbye just yet. He’s actively exploring options to keep the show alive, hinting that other networks might be interested in picking it up. “Hey, Netflix, how about this? Remember when it only took us two weeks to climb from number 15 to number 1? That’s the kind of magic we bring to the table,” he joked. “So if you’re looking for a show that’s already a hit with audiences, let’s talk.”
