Patricia Heaton Is 'Ready To Move On' From 'The Middle' (EXCLUSIVE

For decades, Patricia Heaton has been a beloved figure in our living rooms, playing iconic moms on shows like Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle. Since wrapping up her nine-year run on The Middle, she’s been diving deep into humanitarian work with World Vision, focusing on real-life families. At 60, Patricia's still as passionate and inspiring as ever. In a recent exclusive chat with Closer Weekly, she opened up about her new endeavors, her enduring marriage, and the next chapter of her career.

Patricia shared, “World Vision focuses on clean water, maternal and child care, education, economic empowerment, preventing early marriages, and combating sex trafficking. These are the causes I’ve been searching for.” She’s even designed a necklace, bracelet, and scarf for World Vision’s 2018 Holiday Gift Catalog, proving her commitment to making a difference. But don’t worry, she’s not leaving acting behind just yet. She’s set to star in CBS’s new sitcom Carol's Second Act, where she plays a retired teacher embarking on a new journey as a doctor.

Her dedication to family and community is inspired by her husband of 28 years, David Hunt, and their four sons. Patricia candidly admitted, “Marriage isn’t always easy, but it builds character and teaches compassion. It’s about sticking together, even when things get tough.” Now, with an empty nest and a fresh CBS deal, Patricia is ready to take on new challenges while reflecting on her incredible journey. What Inspires You About Your New Sitcom, Carol's Second Act?

Patricia’s excitement about her new sitcom is palpable. She explained, “My husband and I are now empty nesters, so we have so much more time together. It’s like we’re picking up where we left off before our boys came along. Raising four kids in quick succession was like surviving a whirlwind, but now we’re finally catching our breath. We’ve been traveling, relaxing, and enjoying each other’s company. This new role in Carol’s Second Act feels like a natural extension of where I am in life. It’s a story about reinvention, which resonates deeply with me.”

How Was It Saying Goodbye to The Middle?

Ending a show that’s been part of your life for nearly a decade isn’t easy. Patricia reflected, “We had the whole year to prepare for the finale, so we cherished every moment together. The last two weeks were especially intense, but it felt sweet and bittersweet at the same time. While we were ready to move on, we were grateful for the incredible nine years we shared. The cast and crew became like family, and we’ll always carry those memories with us.”
