From Horror Icon to Family Life: Jamie Lee Curtis's Journey
When you think of Jamie Lee Curtis, the first thing that probably comes to mind is her iconic role as Laurie Strode in the Halloween franchise. But there's so much more to her than just being a scream queen. In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, Jamie opened up about her life off-screen, sharing that she leads a quiet, private existence. "I live a very quiet, private life! I’m married to a very quiet guy," she revealed. This side of Jamie was on full display on September 8, when Closer caught up with her at the Midnight Madness premiere of her latest Halloween movie during the Toronto International Film Festival. As fans screamed and cheered, Jamie waved back with a big smile, saying, "This is all sort of funny and amazing. I love it! I’m going to be 60 and I’m at a movie — that I’m in!"
A Career Shaped by Horror, but a Life Filled with Joy
Jamie Lee Curtis has starred in six out of the eleven films in the Halloween franchise, and she credits her role as Laurie Strode for shaping her career. "Landing the role of the terrorized babysitter in the 1978 original basically gave me the life I have today," she said. The new movie focuses on three generations of Strode women battling the infamous Michael Myers. But while the on-screen horror continues, Jamie’s real-life story is one of happiness and fulfillment. Far from the frights of the silver screen, Jamie leads a life that’s rich in family, creativity, and personal growth.

Life Beyond the Screen: Writing, Family, and Resilience
Jamie Lee Curtis isn’t just an actress; she’s a multifaceted creative force. She recently published her 13th children's book and is currently working on her first screenplay. And as she approaches her 60th birthday, she’s excited to celebrate with her husband of 33 years, Christopher Guest. Speaking about their relationship, Jamie said, "We are opposites. We have been for 33 years, and we always will be." What keeps their bond strong? Jamie attributes it to a lesson she learned two decades ago when she got sober: "Don’t leave. There’s a recovery phrase that says, 'Stay on the bus... the scenery will change.' It can apply to almost anything."
As Jamie faces the milestone of turning 60, she’s proud of how far she’s come. "I’ve learned to shed my own limitations and perception of who I am," she reflected. This personal growth gives her a sense of peace about the future. "Life is tough for everybody. That's why we go to the movies! So we can scream and laugh, and then go home." Jamie leaves the on-screen screaming to her character, Laurie Strode, while focusing on living a fulfilling, balanced life off-screen.
