Joanna Gaines welcomed her fifth child, Crew, on June 23. That’s right—just after she and husband Chip Gaines announced they were stepping away from the spotlight to focus on their business and family. Even though the Gaines family was thrilled about expanding their brood, Joanna admitted that this pregnancy was a complete surprise. Joanna revealed to People just how emotional the discovery of her unexpected pregnancy was. "I was feeling a little off, you know, all those emotions that hit you out of nowhere," she said. "And then it hit me—'Hey, I remember this feeling!' When I saw the results of the pregnancy test, my jaw dropped. I couldn't believe it. Chip was about to leave the house when I called him back and said, 'We're pregnant!' His excitement was contagious. We’re both just so thrilled!"

No one could be more thrilled about the new addition than the Gaines' four older children: Drake, 12, Ella, 11, Duke, 9, and Emmie Kay, 7. "The best part of this entire experience has been the excitement my kids have shown for their new baby brother," Joanna told Life & Style. "Since I had our first four babies in quick succession, none of them actually remember me being pregnant. They absolutely adore my growing belly, and they can’t wait to meet him." It’s clear that the Gaines family is all about embracing the joy that comes with new life.
