Life has a way of reminding us that every day isn’t the same, and some days are harder than others. Sophie Perry, the daughter of the late Luke Perry, took to Instagram this past weekend to share her feelings about the grieving process after losing her dad. It’s been weeks since Luke passed away, and Sophie continues to navigate the emotional journey with grace and honesty.
On March 23, Sophie posted a heartfelt message on Instagram that resonated deeply with fans. Her caption, “💛miss him a little extra today💛,” was accompanied by a sweet photo of her with a puppy, while her dad, the beloved Riverdale star, sat behind the wheel of a car, sporting a pair of sunglasses and flashing that signature smile. A Heartbreaking Loss
March 4 marked the day Luke Perry passed away, just five days after suffering a massive stroke. This sudden loss left Sophie, who is 18, and her 21-year-old brother, Jack Perry, without their father. Luke, who was previously married to Sophie and Jack’s mom, Rachel “Minnie” Sharp, was also planning to tie the knot with fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer in Los Angeles on August 17. The couple had even sent out “save the date” cards to their loved ones.
Sophie’s Journey Through Grief
This wasn’t the first time Sophie turned to Instagram to express her emotions following her dad’s passing. In the immediate aftermath of his death, she posted a touching tribute and later praised her mom for being a “rock” for the family during such a difficult time.
“I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages,” Sophie wrote in one of her earlier posts, “but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and me.” She admitted that she wasn’t sure how to react in such a situation, choosing instead to “be grateful quietly” while processing her grief.
View this post on InstagramA lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support. I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I. I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So bear with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.

Facing the Critics
Not everyone responded kindly to Sophie’s posts, and she didn’t shy away from addressing the negative comments she received. In a candid Instagram update, Sophie stood up for herself against those who weren’t supportive.
“Since my dad died, I’ve received a lot of attention online,” Sophie explained. “And while most of it has been positive, some people just can’t be nice.” Her courage in speaking out about the challenges of grieving in the public eye is inspiring, and it highlights the importance of empathy and understanding during tough times.
We’re sending our love and support to Sophie and the entire Perry family as they continue to heal and honor the memory of Luke Perry.
