Jennifer, the ever-supportive mom, recently chatted with People magazine and shared how her daughter loves experimenting with beauty products. Jennifer, who’s always quick with a laugh, told the story of Violet’s pre-teen makeup routine. “She’s super smart about it, like, ‘Okay, now I’m leaving the house, so I’d better check with Mom. Chances are, she’s gonna make me take this lip gloss off,’” she joked. And guess what? Jennifer does make her take it off. “That’s where we’re at right now,” she added, with a playful chuckle.

The Tricky Transition Through Adolescence

She understands Violet is navigating one of the trickiest phases of life. “Growing up isn’t easy,” she said. “It’s just tough to be an adolescent.” And she’s absolutely right. “My kids know two versions of me,” Jennifer admitted. “They see the version in the mirror that looks a little wild and crazy—this is what they see about 90 percent of the time. But then there’s the other side, where I’m all done up—my hair’s perfect, my makeup’s flawless. It’s a side they’ve never seen from their grandma or anyone else. I wonder what that does to her mind. I don’t want to put words in her mouth, but I do wonder how it affects her adolescent brain.”
