Life’s Journey: Denise Richards Reflects on Her Happy Transformation
Denise Richards's life today is a world apart from where she was 15 years ago, and she’s absolutely thrilled about it. Now, the actress is the proud mother of three kids and a newlywed to husband Aaron Phypers. Plus, she’s the latest star to join the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Things are certainly looking up for the Wild Things star! Denise has been through a lot, but she’s come out stronger, wiser, and more fulfilled.
Adoption Journey: Denise Opens Up About Eloise
In a candid Q&A with The Local Moms Network, the 48-year-old shared her deeply personal story about adopting her special needs daughter, Eloise Joni Richards, now 7 years old. Denise spoke with such warmth and sincerity, explaining that to her, there’s no distinction between an adopted child and a biological one. “To me, it feels like I’ve always had Eloise. Whether it’s through adoption or biology, she’s my daughter and a part of me,” Denise revealed. “I believe that we choose our parents, and Eloise just chose me in a different way. She’s my daughter, and she’s an integral part of my life.”

Family Life: Balancing Love and Discipline
Denise, who adopted Eloise as a single mother in 2011 after her divorce from Charlie Sheen, is also the proud parent of two biological children: Sam Sheen, 15, and Lola Rose Sheen, 13. Since tying the knot with Aaron Phypers last September, the 46-year-old has stepped into the role of stepdad to all three kids. Despite this change, Denise reassures fans that her relationship with Charlie, the Two and a Half Men star, remains amicable. “No matter what was happening with Charlie over the years, I always wanted to maintain peace,” Denise said. “I never wanted the girls to be exposed to any discord or conflict. That meant not fighting in front of them or saying anything negative about their father. Even during tough times, I never wanted them to feel caught in the middle or think badly about their dad.”
Co-Parenting Advice: Putting Kids First
Denise offered some heartfelt advice for parents struggling with co-parenting after a split. “Parents need to come together, even if they don’t want to be in the same room, for the sake of their kids,” she emphasized. “Suck it up because your children didn’t ask to be born into a family that splits, and they shouldn’t have to deal with parents constantly at each other’s throats. Bashing your ex in front of your children is disrespectful to them. It’s important to remember that it’s not about you—it’s about them.”

Parenting Challenges: Finding the Right Balance
Though she’s a mom to two teenagers, Denise admitted she’s still learning every day about parenting. “I consider myself a fairly strict parent, but I’m still adjusting to my girls growing up,” she confessed. “I’m trying to find that balance—giving my oldest daughter freedom while keeping consequences in place and holding her accountable. It’s tough being their parent instead of their friend right now, but I know I’ll have plenty of time to be their friend later. For now, it’s about guiding them and preparing them for life.” Denise’s dedication to her family and her thoughtful approach to parenting truly make her an incredible mom!
