Back in 1982, when "Knight Rider" first hit our screens, the idea of a car that could talk seemed like a distant dream straight out of science fiction. Fast forward to today, and guess what? The future is here. "It's weird — the Knight Rider car has come true," David Hasselhoff shared with Closer during the recent A&E Networks’ Upfronts in New York City. "Nowadays, cars are driving themselves with artificial intelligence and even chatting with the driver," he added, sounding genuinely amazed.
While the original show only aired for four seasons, its impact on pop culture is undeniable. For many, it’s one of the first things that come to mind when they hear the name of the 66-year-old legend. Whether you think of "Knight Rider" or "Baywatch," it’s clear that Hasselhoff’s career has left an indelible mark. And now, the iconic series is making a comeback — sort of.

David Hasselhoff Returns to the Driver's Seat
David Hasselhoff, who originally played Michael Knight, is set to get back behind the wheel of the iconic KITT car as the host of an upcoming History special tentatively titled Battle of the ’80s Super Cars. This two-hour extravaganza will feature the legendary actor and KITT racing against none other than Dirk Benedict in the van from The A-Team and Erik Estrada on a motorcycle from CHiPs. But this might not just be a nostalgic trip for fans of Knight Rider; David is open to revisiting his role. "I would love for my character to reflect where I am today," he said. "And I’d enjoy sharing with KITT what I’ve learned — and what I still haven’t figured out after 30 years."

NBC attempted a reboot in 2009, but the series only lasted one season. Despite this, David made a cameo appearance. Many fans would love to see the '80s TV show return, including David Rogers, an Emmy Award-winning editor known for his work on Seinfeld and The Office.
